Equal Opportunities Statement

The Aisle O’Var Academy of Arms welcomes members and students from all walks of life, regardless of colour, creed, sexual orientation, country of origin, or physical or mental limitations.

We believe in treating everyone fairly and with honour.

We are prepared to consider those with criminal records for membership, but due to the close physical nature of the training we cannot accept registered sex offenders.

Every club member will receive fair treatment and have equal access to all levels of training.

We believe that equal opportunity will benefit everyone and every student will be encouraged to adhere to our equality programme.

We will not tolerate behaviours which denigrate or make fun of another student based on colour, creed, age, gender, or sexual preference.

Bullying in any form is prohibited. The Maister must be made aware of any bullying so that corrective steps may be taken.

The Instructors are not in class to display any superiority due to advanced training or fitness or for any other reason; however, it is in the nature of the arts we practice that some students will be more adept than others. Lower grades will always have their inexperience considered, and more experienced students will be expected to match their craft to any lower-grade student whom they may be helping to instruct.

All students’ concerns will be listened to and considered. If a student believes that he or she has been unfairly treated, then the matter will be investigated and appropriate steps taken.
